FINALLY, MIGRAINE RELIEF
"I wanted to give this some time to work before leaving a review. Natural remedies take time vs most prescription medications. This is a little long of an explanation but hopefully this can help others like myself who suffer from debilitating migraines and headaches. I do get to the point of how the Magnesium OXIDE helps my migraines and headaches. Please bare with me with the long explanation.
I have had migraines and headaches almost my whole life. My first migraine was when I was 11, then 18 and a few in between from then until now. When I get migraines I also get the aura which is FRIGHTENING. When I moved to Florida just under 2 years ago I started getting more migraines and headaches. I'm talking almost every day. I don't know if it is allergies (which I have never had), stress of moving, or whatever. Either way it was every day which can be extremely debilitating on a day to day basis. I exercise regularly, drink tons of water, eat healthy, etc. Migraines are still somewhat of a mystery to doctors and scientists.
I ended up seeing a Neurologist October of 2020. He ordered an MRI of the brain for me to make sure everything is okay. I had the MRI and when I got the results I have a very small linear lesion in the left centriole of my brain due to basal spasms caused by migraines. This of course was EXTREMELY disheartening and frightening to hear. I didn't know what to think. He said it is actually common with those who get migraines and he didn't seem too worried about it, which made me feel a little better.
Anyhoo, my neurologist prescribed me Amitryptiline which is a common prescription for migraines and headaches. Well, it worked great for 2 months until it caused Tachycardia (fast heart rate). My BPM was 140 while I was literally sitting on the couch relaxing. He told me to immediately stop taking it. Tricyclics such as Amitriptiline can cause cardiac issues. Now, I'm back to square one with headaches and migraines again. Do I dare start taking another medication that can cause cardiac issues or other health issues?... OR do I do a little research with a holistic approach and hope it works???
I did tons of research with Migraines and natural remedies. So, that being said. Magnesium OXIDE is the right one for headaches and migraines. NOT Magnesium Citrate.... you have to make sure you take the correct Magnesium for Migraines because there IS a difference.
The first day I took the Magnesium Oxide I had a headache of course. 45 minutes later I had 95% relief. I was like "OMG, THANK YOU". Now that being said. It still took a little time (1 week) to completely get rid of my headaches/migraines altogether. I am now 2 weeks into taking Magnesium OXIDE and I have been migraine and headache free. Every now and then I get a little "twinge" but it doesn't last long at all and it is only every now and then. It is nice that I can go about my day and not be in pain all of the time in combination with worrying. When I got a headache after hearing about the lesion I literally worried the whole time and wondered "is this going to cause another lesion or is the current lesion I have going to get bigger?". It's really AWFUL to worry like that and my anxiety was through the roof.
There are other things to take in conjunction with Magnesium OXIDE to help keep Migraines and headaches at bay, which are Riboflavin (B2) 400mg once a day, COQ10 (I take 120 mg per day), Vitamin D (at least 1200 IU/day) and if you need Melatonin (1-3mg). I don't take the Melatonin because I don't want to be groggy in the morning. So far the other combination works for me for having no migraines or headaches. The Melatonin is for those who don't sleep well through the night. Some migraine triggers have been linked to poor sleep. So, if you are one of those people I'd suggest starting with 1 mg of Melatonin. ALSO, make sure there are NO contraindications with other medications you take. Always talk to a Pharmacist.
Upon further research I discovered those who suffer from GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) or other mental health problems such as depression, etc. are also linked to having Migraines and headaches. So, get this. When you have Anxiety and especially a Panic Attack you deplete Serotonin which also depletes Magnesium. In addition you send your adrenal glands into over drive releasing cortisol, etc.... The rabbit hole goes deep with this one because there are so many chemical processes that are connected. It's like a car, when a part breaks and you fix it, for some reason it leads to others failing or breaking.
I HIGHLY recommend this Magnesium OXIDE for headaches and Migraines. It has worked EXCELLENT for me and I'm happy I'm not taking a prescription medication to get relief which in turn can cause other health ailments. It is nice to have found a holistic approach.
I hope this helped and thank you for reading all of this. I know it was a bit long."
