Helpful Supplements
"My sister recommended these supplements and they seem to already be making a difference with my cognitive functioning. I haven’t seen any huge changes yet, but the process so far seems very promising. I also have a very hard time swallowing pills and these have been pretty easy for me to swallow."
Just started taking it...
"I received my dark colored bottle with a grey lid with only a shrink wrap seal on grey lid. I asked on Amazon from other buyers if it normally comes like this, without a internal safety seal--all said yes. I also contacted the company via Amazon and received an answer stating "Yes, due to the pandemic supply chain we, at times, will run them with or without the foam liner. However per FDA regulations we do include an outer safety seal which protects your product from tampering." I was encouraged to return to Amazon IF the outer seal was missing. So, for now I feel a rush of blood to my brain, I did take it 2 hrs before bed first night and I had bad insomnia, so I started taking it in the morning, 1 pill a day---and will do this for a week. Then, I will add another pill midday. I have insomnia already, I take 3mg Melatonin nightly because I'm approaching menopause (I have symptoms) --insomnia, night sweats. I also have cognitive issues that are probably related to that as well. I've been on keto 1.5 yrs, I find that my diet is now not doing enough (right now) for my brain fog, memory, cognitive issues but it did get rid of my migraines I suffered from since 2006! So far I'm feeling something going on~ But, I will try another brand that contains 2 other types of magnesium--glycinate, taurate (I believe this may help me better) and that has an inner safety seal."
Anecdotal but Magtein helps in a way NOT claimed by manufacturer.
"I'm not a doctor so take this for what it's worth.
I've been buying for two friends (and just giving it them - they've given me plenty of other things in the past).
One has memory problems including brain fog. It eliminates her brain fog and an accompanying stutter but not her other memory problems. But she's very glad to be free of brain fog.
I bought a bottle for the other friend because I saw in online comments somewhere that magnesium l-threonate helps against (a commenter's) migraines, although I've never seen such a claim by the manufacturer. I asked her to try it, maybe it'll work, maybe not, and tell me whether it helps. After 6 or so months she went from 4 migraines a month to more than a month between migraines, and she agrees with me that she is functioning better in her life, which is really welcome news. She just started buying her own - 5 bottles to start with. A few weeks ago I found online that a migraine-sufferer taking that which amounts to an overdose of supplemental magnesium (over 450mg) under a doctor's supervision may get some relief from migraines. So if magnesium l-threonate gets magnesium more efficiently into the brain as claimed by Magceutics, that could account for its working (over time) against migraines even though it has only 144mg of magnesium in 1000mg of magnesium l-threonate (one dose, 2 capsules, of Magceutics-brand Magtein). I'd be surprised if a scientific study on this were to show no anti-migraine effect.
I've been taking it myself for forgetfulness but I remain the same absent-minded person who I've always been. I'm just hoping that I can delay significant cognitive decline. If I had been cognitively on the ball, I would have Googled on migraine and magnesium (for my friend's sake) back many months ago when I first saw the commenter's claim about migraines.
From among various brands of magnesium l-threonate, I chose Magceutic-brand Magtein ("original formula") because it includes Vitamins C & D, which Magceutics, whose people originated Magtein, says help the uptake of magnesium into the brain. That way I didn't need to worry about whether my friends were taking their C & D.
Again, I'm no doctor and Magceutics makes no claims about migraines, but I wish they were a publicly held company because I would buy their stock. I'd better add that I'm no investment advisor!"
