Amazing relief from hot flashes and night sweats! Surprisingly, no nausea.
"I'm not usually a user of supplements, I do take some gummy vitamins occasionally and originally started looking into Turmeric based on an ad I saw on FB related to relief for hot flashes and night sweats. As I read more about it, I became more interested in the reviews on Amazon that mentioned relief from joint pain and stiffness which had become pretty intense over the winter. After researching many brand options, I picked this brand because it is 95% standardized curcuminoids and included both ginger and black pepper to help prevent nausea and increase absorption. I received the bottle on March 3.
The recommended dosage on the label is 2250 mg daily which is 3 of the 750 mg capsules per day. Because (1) most medications, vitamins etc cause nausea when I take them, and (2) I had ready that 750 to 1500 mg was a high enough daily dosage for many people, I just took one 750 mg the first day. There is a slight taste of black pepper but not a problem when swallowed with water. Given my slight belief that most supplements are worthless, I decided to track any daily progress which is included below in case you like details.
To sum it up, I've had almost no hot flashes or night sweats (which had been excessive for a couple of months) since day 5 of taking one (occasionally two 750 mg capsules per day), joint pain has improved slightly if at all, and surprisingly, I have not experienced nausea which was a concern. Overall, I highly recommend this for hot flashes and night sweats but may need to increase the dosage to the recommended 2250 mg to get more benefit for joint pain.
Detailed Turmeric Daily Results for 8 days
Day 1 - March 3, 2020
My recent symptoms:
1) Hot flashes and night sweats are frequent and heavy for a couple of months.
2) Pain location, frequency and level -
Left wrist, almost constant, high pain level 7 - 8 depending on use
Both shoulders - up to 50% of the time at lower to mid level 3 to 5, very high pain with use 8-9
Ankles and feet - up to 50% of the time at mid level 5 - 6, high level 8-9 in morning when getting out of bed
Right knee - mid to high level with aerobic activity 6-8
Hands - up to 33% of the time at mid level 5 - 6
Day 1 Turmeric Usage -1 pill 12:45 pm (took 1 pill after a meal to test possible nausea effects)
Day 2 - I had no significant nausea yesterday and overall feeling less pain this morning in general but lower to no pain in feet and ankles when first getting up. Right shoulder has low pain upon moving and raising to test. Left shoulder has moderate medium pain upon moving and raising to test. Maybe some relief due to a nice placebo effect? I'll take it. Afternoon - Some moderate left hip pain after walking 45 minutes. Due to no nausea yesterday, I took two pills today, one after lunch and one after my evening meal.
Day 3. No noticeable improvement with hot flashes or night sweats. Morning joint pain is moderate. Took pill after lunch meal forgot evening pill.
Day 4 - Night sweats were improved last night. I did wake up with a night sweat episode but only once instead of 2 or 3 times. No morning improvement with joint pain which seems at highest level. Left shoulder pain intense with movement. Hip pain more noticeable. Took one pill after lunch and one after evening pill.
Day 5 - Last night was the first night I didn’t wake up with major night sweats in two months! I have not noticed any hot flashes today. Shoulder pain is still significant. No change in other pain areas. I took one pill after evening meal.
Day 6 - Whoo hooo another night without a major night sweat and no hot flashes during the day! If this continues I’m sold. Foot/ankle pain seems better the last few days. Hip pain slightly better the last few days. Shoulder pain about the same as always. I took one pill before going to bed.
Day 7 - Foot/ankle pain still noticeable but not as significant and another night with no night sweats and no hot flashes! They had been so significant in the last few weeks so either I have a major placebo effect or these pills are really, really helping with night sweats and hot flashes. I took one pill before bed.
Day 8 - Foot/ankle pain was less today. I did have one very light hot flash this morning but it was totally manageable and was no where near as uncomfortable as the ones I was having before. Honestly, it may just have been a normal warm feeling because I had the electric heater on so high in my sunroom.
Day 9 through 21 - Since symptom relief has been good, I have continued taking one 750mg per day except for 2 or 3 days when I would remember to take one in the middle of the day after lunch. During this time, I have had virtually no hot flashes or night sweats. Joint pain has had slight improvement if any, but this may have more to do with increased recent activity painting a couple of rooms which required excessive use of just about all my joints :)
Overall, I highly recommend this for hot flashes and night sweats but may need to increase the dosage to the recommended 2250 mg to get more benefit for joint pain."
