Dual Quad Bay Antenna
"Appears well constructed, however, there is no packaging material inside the box, like shrink-wrap, peanuts, etc. The antenna just comes loose inside the box, so mine was minorly bent a few places upon receipt due to normal shipping & handling. Was able to straighten it out, and don't believe it affects the performance, but the company could have packaged it better. Easy to assemble, basically join the two pre-assembled halves by clamping them together with the two main support bars, extend the bowties, and join the cables. Mounted on my roof on pole extending above roofline - estimate the antenna's height approx. 28 feet above the ground. The antenna works okay. Definitely needs a pre-amp antenna amplifier though. Hardly received anything without one, but then I'm in a slight valley with trees so that probably accounts for much of my signal problems, and would likely be similar for most antennas. I'm to the N of Metro Atlanta, GA. Most of my stations are to the SE. But a few are E, and a couple NW. Wanted to compare this antenna's ability to aim at different angles, so first I tried pointing both sections to my main SE direction to establish a baseline, using a compass and direction headings from signal showing websites. (There's one the FCC has, also Atlanta Digital TV for my area.) Received 79 channels (with pre-amplifier), though roughly 10 or so would pixilate and go in and out. When pointing one of the dual bay sections at a different angle to stations not at my main SE direction, was able to receive a few more channels that hadn't before. But this also made a couple more of my channels to the SE to now sometimes pixilate that hadn't before when both sections were pointed the main direction. Still, the majority of the main SE signals come in okay, though a couple I get at night, I don't receive at all during the day. So overall, I'd say this is a decent antenna, for a decent price (approx. $50 - $60, depending on seller). However, get a pre-amplifier! The antenna's ability to point in two directions is of some use, but you may lose some signal quality than when both sides pointed in the same direction. But if in a bad signal area, you may need a much bigger antenna which will of course cost much more."
It's Big and it works. But take caution and read my review first.
"I live in an apartment. So I don't have the luxury of mounting this thing outdoors like it should be. However I wanted to get the biggest antenna that would reasonably fit behind my TV in my bedroom. I live on the top floor of a 3 story building. So the height helps. I'm also lucky enough that the wall faces most of the antenna towers in my area. Two different markets. Providence towers at 9 miles away. Boston towers 40 miles away. Does the antenna work? YES.
I was previously using only a powered Terk antenna which did the job and which I still like. However the Terk failed to pull in two stations in Worcester, Massachusetts at 45 miles away. However this Dual Quad pulls them in reliably. It also strengthened the signal on the stations I already got. I also have a group of 6 ion stations 30 miles south of here that I had trouble getting with my other antenna unless I combined two of them and pointed them in different directions. But this Dual Quad antenna fixed that problem too. I'm happy with my purchase. However this is where you need to take caution. THIS ANTENNA IS DESIGNED FOR UHF. I happen to have two channels still using VHF frequencies in my area. So this antenna kept cutting those signals out. I needed to combine my old Terk antenna with this one so that the two VHF channels would reliably come in. I'm also using an amplifier since I'm feeding this antenna to four separate Televisions in the apartment.
But after all is said and done all my channels come in nicely now. OTA reception will always take a little work to find the proper position to place your antenna. Sometimes a lot of work. I had to fool with this thing for a week before I found the perfect spot. But that can be said about any antenna. It's not the prettiest thing to look at if you are using it indoors. I'm going to get a curtain or something to cover it so that it doesn't look so noticeable. But the bottom line is that it did it's job for me and was worth the sale price of under $50 I paid for it."
