eliminated slight knee pain (1/2 scoop per week) when chondroitin and glucosamine did nothing
"Highly recommended to try if you are experiencing knee pain. My moderate knee pain when standing from a sitting position has been gone for a year from a 1/2 scoop a week.
I'm late 40s, 6'3" and 225 lbs and I was experiencing moderate pain in my right knee when I stood up from a sitting position to the point I routinely used my arms to push myself up to help lessen the pain. I had been taking chondroitin and glucosamine and fish oil a few times a week for several years yet I still developed knee pain. For reference, my knees have been creaking when I walk up stairs with no pain since my mid 20s.
Almost a year ago I looked for a way to help with the knee pain and from internet searches I came across collagen. This product seems to be the best among the various types and sources of collagen so I thought I would give it a try and I'm glad I did. I started with a half scoop of the collagen. After three days I noticed I felt less knee pain when I stood up from a chair while pushing up with my arms. It took a few seconds for me to realize that I had taken the collagen a few days earlier and maybe that's the reason why I had less pain.
I waited a few more days to see if my knee pain would lessen and it did not, so after a week I took another 1/2 scoop. A few days later I noticed even less pain and figured I would keep at 1/2 scoop a week. By the third time taking collagen I was able to stand up from a sofa chair without using my arms and had no knee pain. The lack of pain surely was due to the collagen but my knees still creak when I go up stairs and stand up from a sitting position. I didn't want to push it by doing deep knee bends as if I had new knees but I do moderate exercises knee bending exercises and feel no immediate pain (only latent pain the next day or so if I overdo it).
Although the collagen has helped my knee pain when standing, it has not helped my knees in other ways such as pain from prolonged kneeling or squatting (prolonged being only a few minutes). The collagen did not help other minor joint pains (hip, elbow, shoulder) I get from exercise or being in certain sitting or sleeping positions for long periods. Because this worked so well for my knee pain I got a jar for my dad and he took 2-3 scoops most days for about a month but it did not help with his lower back pain. He is in his 70s and uses a walker and scooter due to lower disc and nerve problems.
The plain taste of this collagen is a horrible fishy flavor with water alone, but with coconut water it is fine. I'm glad the makers didn't flavor the collagen and left the flavoring to the customer."
